Minister of Health, Dr. Chris Tufton will tomorrow host a live Twitter discussion regarding the Jamaican Health Sector.

Minister of Health, Dr. Chris Tufton will tomorrow host a live online discussion to address issues relating to the Jamaica Health Sector between 7PM and 8PM. The discussion will be facilitated through the popular social media platform Twitter using the hashtag #JaTalksHealth

According to Tufton the idea for #JaTalksHealth was borne out of a conversation he had online with @suezeecue (Susan Goffe) regarding an article which was posted to Twitter. The article suggested that a doctor located in Old Harbour had seen many cases of patients showing symptoms of ZikV.

“While doing my daily Twitter check-in I noticed a series of tweets directed at me asking for my urgent attention. After reading the article, I provided responses to the tweets and did a follow up on the ZikV situation in the area with CMO, Dr. Winston De La Haye who contacted the doctor and responded publicly the following day.”

Dr. Tufton realised from this incident how powerful social media can be as a tool in addressing issues. Therefore, he decided to host a live discussion so he can hear and be abreast of what's happening and what needs to be corrected.

To join in the discussion tomorrow you can follow and participate using the hashtag #JaTalksHealth.
