Twenty-five physically challenged residents of the St. Catherine West Central constituency were given HOPE when they were presented with wheelchairs under the West Central HOPE Charity. The initiative being spearheaded by the Member of Parliament for St. Catherine, West Central, Dr. Chris Tufton was launched yesterday in the constituency.

West Central HOPE is a charity under which the most vulnerable and less fortunate residents in the constituency will be given assistance in different forms. Tufton said, the charity is a fulfillment of his promise made to his constituency during the the last General election. The initiative also forms part of a five pillar approach to development in the constituency. These five pillars are Education and Training, Infrastructural Development, Sports (in community and in school), Welfare (West Central HOPE) and Economic Empowerment.

The wheelchairs were donated by Tank Weld Metals, Food for the Poor, Free Wheelchair Mission and Errol Rattray Evangelistic Association.

Tufton noted that these activities are coordinated so that the residents in the community of West Central St. Catherine get served by their elected representatives.

Tufton reiterated that there is no shame in having needs and residents in his constituency can rest assured as his team will be ensuring that they experience a better life.
