Supligen will this year return as title sponsor for the second staging of the Power Play- Power Lifting Competition and Bikini Contest. The Liquid Meal Supplement drink for active and demanding lifestyles has forged a partnership with “Power Play” for a second year as they see sports (body building) as a powerful development tool and want to join the thrust in re-igniting the love of muscle fitness. Last year, the competition received an overwhelming response from the audience.

Category Manager at Seprod, Edgrina Frith, said “Supligen is committed to revitalising and re-energising the sports of powerlifting through muscle fitness with all the healthy benefits of Supligen, hence our involvement in the competition again this year.”

“The alliance between Supligen and Power Play is a natural one. Both are national passions of Jamaicans and represents a healthy medium to empower individuals to realise their potential in a positive way,” Frith noted.

The competition will feature bodybuilders and weightlifters who will be displaying their oiled up and ripped bodies. This year’s event is designed to highlight the benefits of resistance training and will comprise of a Powerlifting and a Bikini Competition. The event will also feature an Olympic Lifting exhibition, minute challenges (pull-up and push-up) and an Aerobic Fitness Dance Exhibition.

Organisers of the event said based on feedback from last year’s staging they have streamlined this year’s competition and shortened the overall length.

“We want to reintroduce the sport of powerlifting to Jamaica. We feel, that the benefits of resistance training have been overshadowed with the introduction of unconventional training systems.” Chris Virtue, Organiser and Managing Director of Muscle Fitness and Health.

This year’s competition will be held at the American International School of Kingston (AISK) and is slated to start at 4pm. Winners of the Powerlifting and Bikini competition will receive $100K and $150K in cash and prizes respectively. Tickets for the event cost $1000 presold and $1500 At the Gate and are available at Muscle Fitness and Health and All Express Fitness.
