Milk Makes A Comeback

Seprod is highly regarded as one of Jamaica’s innovative and creative producers of excellent Jamaican products and services. Through their partnership with the College of Agriculture, Science and Education (CASE), Seprod is offering students internships at their dairy farm at Serge Island Dairies in St. Thomas and its subsidiaries. Seprod has continued to show great commitment to the dairy industry in an effort to restore it to what it was years ago. As Jamaicans, we consume 60 million litres of milk and milk based products every year. However, 80% of this figure is not manufactured locally. According to statistics, 20 years ago, 40 million litres of milk were produced a year at the Jamaican dairy industry’s peak. Now, this number has fallen into the low teens. Today’s signing of the MOU demonstrated the commitment of Seprod and its partners to the Jamaican dairy industry. In addition to restoring the local industry, The Drink Real Milk campaign was launched as an educational and awareness campaign that aims to remind people of the benefits of drinking milk. Of these benefits, the top 5 reasons to drink REAL milk are:

1. Milk is the best source of calcium for the body
