Beauty and Brains will be on display this Sunday, July 17 as some of Jamaica's finest young ladies will compete for a spot in top 20 in this year's Miss Jamaica World Competition.

Organisers of the pageant today announced the final call for females between ages 17- 25 to enter this year's competition by sending their applications online to missjamaicaworld.com.

Last year, 24 year old medical doctor, Sanneta Myrie became the first dreadlocked-beauty to win the Miss Jamaica World title. Myrie went on to represent Jamaica in the 65th Miss World Competition in Sanya, China and finished 4th out of 120 beauties. She also walked away with the title of Miss World Caribbean.

Myrie is encouraging young ladies who are still undecided to take up the challenge in representing Jamaica at this level. She said "during my reign I unearthed a resounding sense of beauty and purpose. It is a journey of self discovery, development and growth."

Jamaica has won the Miss World title three times, has had numerous top Miss World 15, 10 & 5 placements and numerous Miss World Caribbean Queen of Beauty titles. The private elimination session will be held at the Spanish Court Hotel.
