Fifteen beautiful ladies epitomizing grace, personality, intelligence all encapsulated by the theme: ‘Beauty with a Purpose’ were yesterday announced as finalists in the 2016 Miss Jamaica World pageant. The private showcase held at the Spanish Court Hotel saw 50 young ladies initially competing for a spot in Top 15.
According to Franchise holder for the Miss Jamaica World Organization, Laura Butler, both herself and the judges were pleased with the 15 contestants chosen to vie for the crown.

The contestants were judged based on beauty of face, body, intelligence, poise and deportment and a number of other criteria.
The judging panel comprised of CEO Fusion Consulting Ltd and MJWO Franchise Holder, Laura Butler, Marketing and Sales Trainer, Tommy James, Lawyer, Former Mr. Jamaica and Mr. World Semi-finalist, Richard Nevers, Managing Director at New Jamil, Sonia Alam, Caribbean Marketing Director, Sportsmaxx, Tanya Lee and Sophia Max Brown.
Butler said this year’s winner will not only be able to represent herself and Jamaica at the Miss World finals to be held in Washington, DC (USA) but will be able to participate in a bigger way with the ‘Beauty with a Purpose' project because of the Miss Jamaica World Organisation's partnership with the Shashamane Sunrise Charity Group.

She also added that the 2016 Miss Jamaica World will be able to travel to Ethiopia, Kenya, Uganda and other countries.
This year’s winner will walk away with five million dollars in scholarships, training geared towards development in business, a gym membership courtesy of Spartan Health Club, cash prize, a wardrobe and other prizes. The grand coronation show will be held on Sunday, August 21st at the IberoStar Rose Hall Hotel.
