7 Facts about the Little Leaders Programme

Earlier this week, the National Baking Company Foundation (NBCF) launched their early childhood initiative called ‘Little Leaders’  at the Jamaica Pegasus. There, the patron of the National Baking Company Foundation Gary ‘Butch’ Hendrickson announced the Foundation’s plans to assist the efforts being made by the Early Childhood Commission (ECC). This programme will take a concerted interest in ensuring all registered early childhood institutions have the tools necessary for the development of the children.

For those who were unable to join us at the launch of such an amazing initiative, here are 7 facts about the programme:

1. This early childhood initiative will reach children between the ages of 3 and 6 years old.

2. Little Leaders will support the overall literacy of the children with a special focus on the areas of Math and Science.

3. Little Leaders was created to fulfill the Foundation’s mandate on helping to improve the local education system.

4. Through the Little Leaders programme, ALL registered ECC institutions will receive learning kits.

5. A mobile classroom called ‘Training Wheels’  will host workshops across the island- led by a full-time early childhood consultant.

6. Parents can work alongside their children outside of school using the weekly Sunday activity page that will be published in the Jamaica Observer.

7. The Little Leaders Programme will begin this September and will distribute learning kits to over 2500 registered institutions.
