With three weeks to go before the third staging of the Colour Me Happy Powder Run, the organizers are pleased to report that signup numbers have never looked stronger. With the registration period having only been open for two weeks, there has already been a 100% increase in numbers over the same period last year. Dubbed the happiest run in Jamaica, the Colour Me Happy (CMH) Powder Run includes your not so average 5K with powder throws at each kilometre ending with an after party while contributing to a charitable cause.
CMH Planners – We Got The Runs and The Kind Hearts Foundation – notes that although there is a strong following by running clubs and enthusiasts, the run is open to anyone who wants to have a fun time. Additionally, there has been a large cohort of high schoolers and university students who strongly support the costume competition and after party segment of the event.
"While Colour Me Happy is enjoyed by everyone from children to adults, the response by teenagers and young adults has been overwhelming," said WGTR President, Andrew Walcott. “UWI's Rex Nettleford Hall reached out to register a group of 100 of its residents for the event and Corporate Jamaica has always strongly supported our cause of fun and fitness for a cause.”
With under two weeks left to register, interested parties are being reminded of the registration capacity. Interested persons can register at any of the Mailpac locations in Kingston, Liguanea Lane Pharmacy, Discount Pharmacy in Manor Park or via online at colourmehappyrun.com. The cost of individuals for the run and after party is $2,000 while teams of ten (10) or more only pay $1,500 per person. Net proceeds of the event will contribute to the construction of the Tranquility Basic School in Portland, a project of the Kind Heart's Foundation.
