Supligen/Serge inks ‘racket’ deal

Pairing an energy drink and a 1oo% cow’s milk brand with tennis is not something we see everyday in Jamaica. However, this weekend (September 17-18) patrons will witness the partnership between Supligen/Serge and Tennis Jamaica Ltd for the Douglas Burke Invitational Doubles Series.

Chairman of the Douglas Burke Invitational Doubles Series, Arthur Phillpotts said that they decided to do a double series because of the number of singles tournament out there in the market place. Hosting a doubles tournament gives more children the opportunity to play because you can get twice the amount of children on the same number of courts, he said.

Phillpotts noted that children in Jamaica are not exposed to playing doubles as it is strategically and tactically different.

The tennis series will feature primary, prep and high school students participating in various categories. These categories range from 10 & under mini tennis (Unisex), 12 & under girls & boys dot ball event, 14 & under girls & boys hardball, 18  & under girls & boys hardball and girls open dot ball.
