Kingston is known for being the hub of activity spanning from a rigorous nightlife to a scene teeming with culture. In the mix, are a large number of young creative individuals just trying to make a name for themselves. With this in mind, ‘New Wave’ was conceptualised and placed on the already explosive Kingston night scene. This event, curated by Protojé & Jason Panton, takes the form of a lime where members of the creative class come together to meet and share their art/creative passions. New Wave’s objective is simple: to create a platform for young creatives to express themselves and their talents. Each night is different and can feature musicians, filmmakers, artists and even fashion designers.

New Wave is held every Monday from 8:00PM to 12:00 midnight at Stones Throw Bar on Mannings Hill road. The atmosphere takes on a very relaxed tone as patrons come to have a drink, listen to the musical selections of resident DJ, Jimmy Q and DJ Stamma and chow down on delicious vegan food- catered by Sippin’ Live. A popular theme of the night is an Aux Cord segment where persons are invited to bring their phones to the DJ booth and play something they’d like to get some sort of airtime on. The event also featured a live production segment called ‘Making the Beat’ where upcoming producers created beats on site.

The event has drawn crowds far and wide and also features a great mix of producers, singers and just persons interested in gaining a different experience. New Wave officially ended its first season last Monday with plans to return in February 2017. For more information and updates on New Wave, visit @newwaveja on Instagram and Twitter.
