Painting Under The Stars Returns For Second Staging

Imagine an evening where you're sipping on fine wine & eating cheese, while painting on a canvas, and the soothing sounds of live acoustic music surrounds you. That’s what Cluster La Maison on the Aston Preston Hall at The University of the West Indies will be bringing to their patrons on Saturday, March 11.

Painting Under The Stars, borne out of the need to replace the cluster’s loss-making fundraising event ‘Lights Out’ was conceptualised by residents of the cluster. The event, now in its second staging, is the first of its kind on the UWI- Mona campus. It is held to create networking opportunities for residents of the hall and an avenue for the cluster to raise funds.

This year, proceeds from the event will go towards the La Maison Student Financial Grant. The grant provides financial support (books and/or food) for a member of the cluster that is in need. Cluster Representative for Cluster La Maison, Curtis Moxam explained that numerous students at the university are faced with financial difficulties. It is something that is common to most students. Hence it was important for the cluster to find an avenue to give back to one of its members.

“As we all know, students have difficulties finding the basic necessities to just come to university and if we can host an event that is not only entertaining but can contribute to a good cause, then we are all for it,"

In addition to being treated to fine wine and cheese, patrons will also enjoy live acoustic, poetry and art performances.

The event will be held on the lawns of Cluster La Maison, Aston Preston Hall (UWI, Mona). Tickets for the event cost $2000. Start time 7p.m.
