Move For Health Day

In recognition of Move For Health Day on May 10, 2017, The Ministry of Health alongside its partners would like to coordinate a series of activities to promote physical activity and proper nutrition across the nation.

On this day, through the Jamaica Moves campaign, they would like to provide a focal point to generate public awareness on the benefits of physical activity in the prevention of noncommunicable diseases. Additionally, they would like to promote activities across the island that are accessible to the public to join at a free or nominal cost.

The main objectives are to:

1. Generate public awareness of the benefits of physical activity in the prevention of NCDs.

2. Advocate the benefits of physical activity and give attention to good practices

3. Increase population - wide physical activity participation in all domains and settings.

4.Promote healthy behaviours and lifestyles and address health related issues through sports and physical activity.

With that said, we would like to invite you to help us get Jamaicans moving on this day. We are encouraging you to develop programmes for your staff or your community to become active. If you are hosting an event that is open to the public to join at a free or discounted cost please indicate by responding to this email with the following information:

- Name of Programme

- Activities

- Cost (if any)

- Location

-Time

Through our network and partners we will promote these activities to the public. Additionally, we will provide our partners - National Health Fund, Jamaica National, National Baking Company, The RG Group and others with information to garner possible support through products and prizes.

We look forward to hearing from you, and thank you for the consideration as Jamaica Moves away from NCDs

Regards,

Lanvell Blake
